Rare pair of single piece, rigid, shaped silver anklets. Very high grade silver. Early 19th century, from Odisha (Orissa), far eastern India, possibly Gond. These anklets show considerable wear and have a lovely worn patina commensurate with their age. 

Designed to be worn over the foot rather than around the ankle itself, they serve to lengthen the leg and draw attention to a graceful foot. Anklets such as these were often worn by dancers.
